The Trust is a specialist provider of mental health, learning disability and autism services to the people of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. We also provide community physical health services to the people of Barnsley. Most of the care we provide is delivered in local communities by our 4,600 staff with an annual income of £290m. We also provide low and medium secure forensic mental health care to people across the whole of Yorkshire and specialist mental health support into Wetherby Young Offenders’ Institution.

We play a significant role to play in both the West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire Integrated Care Systems (ICS) working with partners to integrate health and care services to meet the needs of our diverse populations. We lead the provider collaboratives for adult secure services across both West and South Yorkshire.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Director of Strategy and Change to join our Trust to further our vision to provide outstanding physical, mental and social care in a modern health and care system. This opportunity comes at a time of significant change in the health and social care landscape with the pandemic further highlighting the inequalities we need to address in our society and increasing demand for our services.

We are seeking to appoint a values-driven, innovative leader of transformational change, who will be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Trust’s organisational strategy. Working closely with the Chief Executive, Mark Brooks, the postholder will be responsible for leading the Trust’s integrated change model which is focused on the continual development of an improvement and innovation culture across the organisation. 

In addition, the postholder will be required to lead, develop and implement a communications strategy which supports the Trust’s objectives, and promotes a culture of engagement and inclusivity. Furthermore, they will also have executive responsibility for the Trust communications, our approach to stakeholder engagement, and will be the executive lead for sustainability &social responsibility, EDI, and digital innovation. We operate within a complex stakeholder environment. The Director of Strategy and Change will also be required to quickly build trusted relationships with our Board, Governors, service users, carers, staff, and partners within the wider systems at regional and place-based levels.
