Hope and Homes for Children is the leading organisation in eliminating orphanages, unlocking wider childcare and protection reform to benefit children and families. Too often orphanages violate the rights of children. Violence, abuse, exclusion and neglect are endemic in the orphanage system, and the institutionalisation inflicted on children has lifelong, limiting consequences that can be transmitted from one generation to the next. This is a global injustice, and it doesn’t have to be this way.
After a successful, dynamic, ambitious 6 years, our Chair Richard Greenhalgh will be stepping down from the Board, and we are subsequently looking for a new Chair. As Chair of our Board, you’ll play a leading role in supporting us to confront the structural lack of accountability to children and make the world a better place for young people to grow up in. We have a new strategy and big ambitions, and as such Hope and Homes for Children will require robust and effective governance.
We’re looking for a Chair to fulfil this vital role to the highest ethical standards grounded in our values of excellence, integrity and courage. As a catalyst for the global elimination of the institutional care of children, we need our Board to continue to support, steward and stretch the charity, and our Chair will be central to developing governance as an enabling function as much as checks and balances.
With you will be talented, committed Board colleagues and a senior management team that consistently delivers to the highest standards of performance, all in common mission. If you are as motivated as we are by the opportunity to make life better for children around the world, we’d love to hear from you.
