The Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult is one of the elite technology and innovation centres set up to transform the UK's capability for innovation and help drive future economic growth. Set up by Innovate UK, the Catapults harness world-leading expertise, transforming high potential ideas into new products and services. The Catapult centres include Cell and Gene Therapy, Connected Places, Digital, Energy Systems, High Value Manufacturing, Offshore Renewable Energy, Medicines Discovery, and Satellite Applications.

Compound semiconductors enable disruptive technologies that transform our world including smart phones, computers, the electric transport revolution and a net zero carbon economy. The power, speed and light generation and detection properties found in compound semiconductors outperform silicon chips, powering next generation applications and solutions. The Chair is a key figurehead for the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, bringing ‘big picture’ thinking to guide the Board and Executive leadership team. With proven world-class leadership within the semiconductor industry and/or semiconductor enabled industry applications (such as Electrification, Automotive, Energy, Communications, Defence and Security or Space), your leadership commands respect and wins the confidence of leaders and investors across government departments, public bodies, business, academia and finance.

A proven Chair, your track record of making an impact in a Boardroom environment is compelling. You will act as custodian for the Catapult’s mission and objectives, ensuring that the Board takes an effective governance role whilst giving the CEO appropriate challenge and support to realise the Catapult’s capability for innovation and help drive future economic growth.
